(27) 1934 Thrift Stamp PDF Print E-mail

These stamps were issued after the depression as a national encouragement to save. When 6 had been purchased and stuck in a schools savings form, the 6d collected was credited to the child's school savings account.

Similarly these were able to be used by adults, and when 12 had been collected and affixed to a different form, 1/- was credited to the individuals Post Office Savings Bank account.

This savings scheme was reasonably short-lived and appears to have been discontinued by the start of World War II
